Ottoman TV Beds

An ottoman TV bed does two jobs at once: the television rises out of the footboard on a remote, and the whole base lifts on gas struts for storage. In a room that has to be a bedroom, a television room and a wardrobe overflow, it is the piece of furniture that makes that possible.

How much storage do you actually get?

Less than a plain ottoman bed, and it is worth being clear about why. The TV lift mechanism is housed at the foot of the base, so it takes roughly 40% of that end. What is left is the full width of the bed and about 60% of its length — enough for spare duvets, pillows and out-of-season clothes, but not the complete footprint.

If storage is the priority and you can live without the screen, ottoman storage beds carry more.

End opening or side opening?

Most of these beds lift from the foot, so you need standing room at the end of the bed. A few, such as the Wilton and the Archer, lift from the side instead — the right choice when the foot of the bed faces a wall or a wardrobe. Each product page says which way it opens.

What TV fits?

• Up to 43 inches on double, king and super king frames; up to 32 inches on a single.
• Maximum 9cm deep, because the screen sits inside the footboard housing.
• 100mm or 200mm VESA holes on the back of the television.

Can I lift the base with the mattress on?

Yes. The gas struts carry the platform and a normal mattress, and hold it open while you load it.

Does the lift mechanism get in the way of the storage?

It sits at the foot end and is enclosed, so nothing can snag on it. Keep the area under the screen housing clear so the mechanism travels freely.

Is the television included?

No, unless the product page says so. The lift, bracket and remote come fitted; our delivery team mounts your TV on the day at no charge.

Can I have sound built in as well?

What is covered by the guarantee?
