Double Ottoman Beds

Double ottoman beds take a standard UK double mattress, 4ft6 by 6ft3 (135 × 190cm). It's the size that fits most UK bedrooms, and the one where lift-up storage earns its keep fastest: a double base takes a spare duvet set, pillows and a season's clothes, all under the bed and out of sight.

Is a double big enough?

For one sleeper, easily. For two, a double gives each person 67.5cm of width, less than a single bed each. If you share and have the floor space, a king size ottoman bed adds 15cm across and a bigger storage base. In a tight room, a small double (4ft, 120cm) is the step down; several beds here come in both sizes.

Fitting a double ottoman into the room

The frame is a little wider and longer than the mattress, because of the upholstery and headboard; each product page lists the exact dimensions. Leave room at the foot for the platform to lift and for you to stand while you reach in. If the foot of the bed faces a wall or a wardrobe, look at a side-opening model such as the Antoine.

Yes, if it's a standard UK double (135 × 190cm). Mattresses aren't included. See our mattresses if you need a new one.

Is there a double ottoman TV bed?

Yes. See double TV beds. They hold a little less, because the TV lift sits at the foot of the base.
