King Size TV Beds: What Fits and What to Check Before You Buy

King size TV bed in a bedroom

A king size frame (5ft, 150 x 200cm mattress) is the size most people mean when they picture a proper TV bed — enough room for two, and a footboard wide enough to carry a decent-sized screen without the bed looking top-heavy.

Room size first

A king size TV bed needs more than just floor space for the mattress. The footboard housing adds depth beyond a standard king frame, and you need clearance in front of it for the screen to rise and for an ottoman lid to open if the bed has one. Measure the full length of the room, not just where the bed will sit, before you choose a size.

Screen size and weight

A king size footboard is wide enough to carry up to a 43" screen on most of our frames, using an adjustable bracket for 100mm or 200mm VESA mounting holes. The maximum is stated on each product page — check it against your own television's model number rather than assuming a bigger bed means a bigger allowance.

Storage underneath

On an ottoman TV bed in king size, expect roughly 150 x 200cm of lift-up base with about 40% of the foot end taken up by the mechanism housing — still enough for spare bedding or out-of-season clothes, just less than a king size storage bed without a screen.

Delivery, for a bed this size

A king size TV bed is a heavy piece of furniture — commonly upward of 100kg once assembled. We deliver and assemble every bed with our own two-person team across mainland UK, free of charge, and take the packaging away with us.
