Double TV Beds: The Right Size for a Smaller Room

Double size TV bed in a bedroom

A double bed (4ft6, 135 x 190cm mattress) is the most common size for a single sleeper's main bedroom or a smaller second bedroom — and it's still large enough to carry a genuinely useful TV bed mechanism.

Does a double footboard carry a big enough screen?

Yes, on most of our frames a double-size footboard holds the same maximum screen size as our king size beds — usually up to 43", set by the bracket and VESA mounting pattern rather than the width of the bed itself. Always check the specific product page, since a handful of designs carry a smaller maximum on the double size.

Room and clearance

A double TV bed doesn't need dramatically more room than a standard double frame, but you do need clearance at the foot of the bed for the screen to rise, and — if it's also an ottoman bed — for the base to lift. Around 70-80cm of clear floor at the foot end is a reasonable rule of thumb.

Storage in a double

A double ottoman TV bed carries roughly 139 x 192cm of base, minus about 40% at the foot end for the mechanism — enough for bedding and off-season clothes, if not a full storage bed's worth.

Built to order

Every double TV bed is made in our own UK workshop once you order — we don't hold finished stock — and delivered fully assembled by our own team, with the frame and the lift covered by the same 5-year guarantee.
